The Graduate School has set a minimum grade point average for students to continue graduate work of at least a 2.8 out of 4.0 in the first 30 credits of graduate study. Your matriculation could be canceled if you do not meet this requirement. ACADEMIC PROBATION SEQUENCE  

Academic Warning:  

• Students with a cumulative GPA under 3.0 after any academic term of their program will be issued an academic warning via email 
• Student must improve cumulative GPA to a minimum of 3.0 by end of 18 credit hours OR the end of the following academic term (which ever occurs first) 
• Advising session with Program Director encouraged, but not required 

Academic Probation:  

• Student has already received Academic Warning 
• Cumulative GPA is at or below 2.8 after 18 credits OR end of two academic terms (i.e. Summer 6 week session and Fall semester) 
• Student will be notified  via email that they are being placed on Academic Probation and must improve their cumulative GPA to 3.0 or better after 24 credit hours of face dismissal 
• Courses that are dropped after the financial drop deadline, for any reason, other than medical leave of absence (MLOA), will be counted towards the credits by which the student needs to raise their GPA to a minimum of 3.0 
• Advising session with Program Director required 

Academic Dismissal:  

• Student has been on academic probation more than one academic term and cumulative GPA is below 3.0 

GPA REQUIREMENT FOR CUMULATIVE EXPERIENCE 

To participate in the program’s culminating experience (i.e., project, capstone, or internship), students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
